hispanic heritage month

Today marks the end of National Hispanic Heritage Month, here’s the VCM run-down. 👩

Every year, Americans celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the history, contribution and culture of the Caribbean, Central and South America.

This year was especially exciting given that there were so many iconic moments for our culture. Bad Bunny made history this year by becoming the first Latin artist to win artist of the year. Big corporations like TikTok and Amazon made big efforts to celebrate the Hispanic contributions and influences - woop!

MUST-KNOW: What's the difference between Hispanic and Latinx?

The term latino/latinx is based on geographical location – if you are from Latin America (South America, Central America, & the Caribbean),  you are Latino.

On the other hand, the term Hispanic is associated with language. If you or your family have Spanish speaking Lineage,  you are Hispanic. It is important to note that both Hispanic and Latino are ethnicities, this means that people who identify as either may be of any race-- the more you know. 😉
